week 2 - potatoes and pork chops

so for week 2, i made two dishes that are pretty safe taste-wise and they worked out really well. i really like pork chops and potatoes so that's what we had for dinner sunday night at grace's house. judy made cinnamon rolls there so i decided to make the dishes there too.

the roasted potatoes with bacon, cheese and parsley turned out quite nicely and photographed well too.

grandma's pork chops were pretty moist and delicious but a tad too salty even for my taste. the company didn't seem to mind though... they're probably just being too nice!

thanks to grace for letting me make a mess in her awesome kitchen and to judy for her awesome cinnamon rolls!!! (photo jacked from judy's blog!)

week 1 - chicken with capers

judy and i are in an 8-week commitment to make food from scratch. the goal is to make sure we eat healthier and organically as much as possible. the first week isn't so bad but i don't think we can keep it healthy...

since i love chicken, i decided to go with this fennel-crusted chicken with brown butter and capers. this was pretty easy to make so it was a no brainer. i got this recipe from epicurious via my iphone.

i've never cooked with fennel before but i really like the unique taste it brings to the chicken. judy loved the capers!

tada!
