Creme Brulee

Inspired by Alton Brown, this is my attempt to recreate his creme brulee to feed my girlfriend's neverending love for desserts!!!

Ingredients:
6 egg yolks

1 cup of sugar
1 qt of heavy cream
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped

[I used 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract 'cause I didn't have the bean]

6 (8 oz) ramekins

The procedure to make it is very simple...
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. While the oven is preheating, bring the heavy cream and vanilla extract to a boil them remove from heat. Then, whisk the eggs and sugar together just until the color turns light yellow.

Combine the cream with the eggs a little at a time. Since the cream is still hot, if you combine it with the eggs immediately, it'll cook the eggs!!! So make sure to mix it a little bit at a time. Afterwards, place the mixture into the ramekins and place the ramekins in a large roasting pan or something. Pour hot water on the pan
... just enough so that the water covers half the height of the ramekins... then bake!!! I suggest baking it for about an hour and a half since the ramekins are huge!!! I made the mistake of baking it only for 40 minutes... the creme brulee was too liquid still. After baking, put the creme brulee in the fridge for at least 2 hours before putting the sugar on top.

My favorite part... melting the sugar on top of the brulee! You can do this plenty of ways, you can use a sissy kitchen torch or an actual blow torch... (as such!)

Sugar the top of the brulee and carefully melt the sugar on top using the torch. Brown the sugar to your liking. Let it sit for a few minutes for the sugar might burn you! Other than that, your brulee should turn out not half bad!!! You can even top it with your favorite fruit.

Mine was plain (as shown)

However, it seemed to tickle Judy's fancy, which was pretty kewl! She devoured all 5 of the brulees that I made. Thats my girl!

Peace out!

Day of Mourning...

Angie, one of our ferrets died yesterday... We don't know how, we think maybe 'cause of the heat in California... Apparently, it was really hot yesterday. At least, her sister, Sugar, is okay.

Angie was loved by all of us. We provided for her and gave her shelter, even a taxi to go out in. From the moment we saw her, we knew that she was gonna be a good kid and she was. She was very relaxed and calm when we give her baths. She even enjoyed it sometimes. When we would cut her nails, she would keep her composure too... She was a trouble maker sometimes though. This one time, she went behind the refrigerator! I had to move the fridge for me to get her out!

Angie was always a lovable one. She will be greatly missed. We love you!!!

Peace out Angie!!!

F**ked Up Day!!!

This morning, the day was okay... Took my girl to work then went home and got ready for work. Had some Pringles and a can of Coke. When I got to work, my stomach started aching so much that I started getting cold sweats and blacking out. While helping out a guest at Animal Kindom, I tried to go to the break room as soon as I can adn I never made it to the room.... I PASSED OUT in the middle of the restaurant!!! After a few minutes, i regained my consiousness and got better in an hour. Later that day when my SWEET girlfriend visited me from work... she looked all beat up with her elbows and knees all bandaged up!!! She said she GOT HIT by a CAR!!! Sh*t day!!!! Poor us eh??? She can't even get compensation for it because the Mexicans that hit her has NO INSURANCE!!! :(

Hopefully a much better day tomorrow!!!

Peace out!

What on 4th of July?!

What to do on 4th of July???! I don't know! I am working on the 4th from 1045 til 730pm. Other than that, I'm pretty sure there's nothing goin on... Maybe watch Disney's Big Bang!!! I wonder where it is though... Anyway, on the eve, I worked from 11 til 5pm then went to the mall to find the 2nd volume of Superman: For Tomorrow. I have just read the first volume and it was great!!! Hooked on it but I couldn't find the 2nd volume!!! Well anyway, after getting back from the mall, just cooked Sweet and Sour Shrimp Noodles. It was pretty good... especially the company!!! Had a dinner and a movie with my baby! She's so cute in her white sweater and Coca Cola shorts!!! She's so pretty!!! Well anyway, HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!

Peace out!

The Recovery Day

Today, I was supposed to go to work but still did not feel 100%. I have been sick for the past week and baby have been taking care of me all week long. (Ain't she a sweetie?!)

We went to JoAnn's today to get some felt fr my new quasi-hobby--pin trading. We went there but did not get the felt but bought a sketch book instead just in case I feel like being creative. Then to Target we went and got some food.

After running our errands in the rain... yes the rain... we went swimming! The pool was extremely clean and warm!!! Afterwards, we went and made pizza from scratch! It was pretty good.

Martha came home and invited us to go to the Vista's pool party so we went. It stunk but Judy got some paper plates for the apartment.

Overall, the day was pretty chill and relxing. Tomorrow, I should be rechared to go back to work. Besides, I need money anyway!!!

Peace out!
